
WDF Tag Match Rules
Teams & Life Points
• 2 players per team
• Each player starts at 8,000 LP
• Team total: 16,000 LP
• A team wins only when both opposing players are eliminated
Opening Setup Rounds
• The first 4 turns are played like a standard tag duel
• Each player takes one turn in order to set up their board
• No tagging during these opening turns
Tag Phase Start
• After the 4th player completes their turn, both teams roll a die
• Winning team chooses:
– Which team goes first
– Which player on their team starts
From here on, the duel switches to active tag rules
Active Tag Rules
• Duel proceeds like a 1v1 duel with tagging
• At the end of each turn before the draw phase the next team can choose to tag in the other team member.
• Only the tagged-in player is treated as the active duelist
Targeting Rules
• You cannot attack a player who is not tagged in
• You may use cards or effects that affect a non-tagged player
Hot Tag Rule
• Each team has 1 Hot Tag per duel
• Can be activated during the Battle Phase
• Immediately ends the Battle Phase
• Swap to your tag partner
• New player continues the turn in Main Phase 2
Action Cards
• Each team has 4 Action Cards total
• Teams must assign 2 Action Cards per player before the duel
• Action Cards follow standard WDF Action Card rules
Additional Rules
• All decks must follow the standard WDF format & regular banlist
• Team communication is allowed, but only the tagged-in player may make plays
• Ref rulings are final during live events
• both players share a field and a graveyard but with individual monster zones.
Illegal Tag Penalties
An Illegal Tag occurs if:
• A player performs an action while not tagged in
• A tag is attempted outside allowed timing
• More than 1 Hot Tag is used
• A tag is made during the opening setup rounds
• A non-tagged player declares an attack
Penalties
• First Offense – Warning + immediate rewind to legal game state
• Second Offense – Team loses 2,000 LP
• Third Offense – Forced tag to the other teammate + skip Battle Phase
• Fourth Offense – Game loss for the offending team
Intentional abuse may result in immediate escalation at referee discretion.
